Big Snowstorm
Tuesday, March 24th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments
We got a big snowstorm on March 2nd. We received a total of 11 inches here on the island and it was enough to close my office for the first time since I started working there over 11 years ago. We hung out indoors in the morning and then headed outside to clear off the snow before it froze over.
Sarah didn’t particularly enjoy being in her snow suit.
She didn’t particularly like being out in the snow either.
The good thing about being outdoors. I got to try out my new Canon Hf10 camcorder outside and even made a short video of our adventure outside.

Standing and Walking

Sarah loves standing up while watching TV. She doesn’t like sitting around like a couch potato while watching her Dora the Explorer on the Noggin network. She stands great and never appears to get tired of just standing around. She’s standing on her own and can balance really well. She’s walking around holding onto stuff and is able to walk relatively well holding onto one of mommy or daddy’s hands.
Climbing the Stairs

I know it’s been a while, but lets see if I can update over a month’s worth of blog posts in the next few hours. Sarah has been crawling around the house and has learned to standup, walk with assistance and even to climb our stairs to get to the bedrooms. While I have a gate to prevent her from falling down the stairs to my parents apartment, I have yet to find a suitable gate to keep Sarah from going upstairs. I guess the search will have to continue with due diligence.
Happy Valentine’s Day

Sarah gave us a great Valentine’s present by sleeping in until 7am! Then mommy gave her a bear that plays the Stevie Wonder’s – Signed Sealed Delivered song. At first Sarah was a bit hesitant to play with the big bear that made music out of its butt, but she soon warmed up to her new toy and even got comfortable enough to dance around with it in the kitchen.
She then spent the entire morning reading and playing with the V-day card her Aunt Maggie sent her.
No That’s Not a Chicken Wing

Even though the picture looks like Sarah is eating a chicken wing, she’s actually eating a cornish hen. I couldn’t resist putting a bone in her hand and snapping a picture. Pretty soon she’ll be chowing down on real buffalo wings just like daddy.
Present from Aunt Linda

Sarah received a wonderful Valentine’s day present from Aunt Linda today. The package was wrapped beautifully in a princess wrapping paper and had a very cute card attached. Sarah enjoyed playing with her new toy and reading the book that came with it.

In true Polish fashion, Sarah likes eating baked potatoes just like her mommy.
Oppa!
Wednesday, February 4th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments
Sarah’s been saying “mama” at Blanka for a while now. In fact, every so often, she’d say “mama” to me too, but not with much conviction. Today, however, she looked over at me and said “Oppa” – the Korean translation of papa or dad. She looked over at me a few times and said “Oppa” while playing. When I walked away to go get her bath ready, she got sad and when I looked back, she said it again! Woo hoo! What a great feeling!
Lucky Money

Sarah received her very first “lucky money” envelope this past weekend from the Poons for the lunar new year. What a lucky girl she is! Not only did she get money from people for the calendar new year, she received it for the lunar new year as well! She is slowly accumulating more money than mommy and daddy.

Sarah’s 1st Superbowl
Monday, February 2nd, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments
Sarah enjoyed her very first Superbowl this year. She didn’t watch much of the game and spent most of the time during dinner reading her Elmo book. The rest of us dined on slow cooker Italian beef sandwiches, sides and of course my homemade buffalo wings with the super secret sauce. 🙂
Pictures can be found here.
